Jayatu Chakma, an artist from the Chakma Indigenous community of the Chittagong Hill Tract region in Bangladesh, holds a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Chittagong and an additional MFA from Rabindra Bharti University in India.
His work as a freelance artist is deeply influenced by the cultural heritage and untold stories of his community, often reflecting themes of forced displacement and land loss. Chakma incorporates materials like ink, acrylic, watercolor, mud, and natural colors from leaves to express these experiences.
